This is  more or less the programme we followed in May 2009. The group had already been before and wanted to repeat some old favourites as well as try out new areas. We had fantastic weather and the last day, out along the Sella mountain ridge, was especially glorious.

Saturday, Day 1 (walk - less than an hour)
Pick up from Alicante airport, journey to Sella. Introduction to CasaRoc or La Casita de las Nubes. Walk up to the Hermita de Santa Bárbara, tour of the village and evening meal as a group in CasaRoc.

Sunday Day 2 (walk - about 2 and a half hours)
The Ruta del Agua around Sella, through the Huerta (orchard/garden) de Sella  taking in the  the old Mill at the valley bottom  and possible another variation up the hill, past the  Racó del Homen and down through Al Fijó, past the Alcantara spring and pool, the goat corral and up the hill to La Solana where lunch awaits out on the terrace with spectacular views across the valley. There´ll be a light supper waiting back at casaroc.

Monday Day 3 (walk -about 3 or 4 hours)
Drive out to the start of the Bhuddist Valley ( also known as the Secret valley) for a lovely and varied route up and out between the Goleró and Sanchet peak - an adventurous group might want to tackle sanchet but it is a bit of a rock-scramble - down past the Carrasco  and Sacarest country houses and through the established pine forest back to the car. Tapas at Paco´s bar in Sella´s main square  - simple but expertly prepared for you by Mª Amparo, Paco´s wife.

Tuesday Day 4 (walk about 3 to 4 hours)
Leaving Sella past the campsite and the Font Mayor spring and pool, we start up hill into El Aguilar  a mountain slope named after the eagles that, one supposes, have been a feature of this forested hillside. It´s an unexpectedly varied route, as the land drops away first on one side, then the other, affording views of Sella, Relleu and the mountains away towards Alcoi. We drop back down, along roads and country tracks, through peach orchards and past  a goat corral until we reach the Sella road which we keep to for a while before dropping down to the valley floor on a track to emerge eventually at the village campsite once more. A hundred yards from Sella´s swimming pool with it´s fine little bar - an excellent place for a cold beer on the way home! An evening meal of Mussels and fish prepared by Liz back at Casaroc.

Wednesday Day 5
Leaving from La Solana, we drop down through the forest track and then take the hill opposite, up towards the ridge of Tafarmaig, perhaps making the slope  a bit gentler by taking the track out towards el Bosquet and the Observatory. Once up on Tafarmaig, the track takes us down through the forested valley of El Charquer, through land that is variously cultivated, settled, abandoned or wild. Around us the dramatic and jagged ridges of El Castellet offer daunting views - and challenging ideas for other routes! The valley eventually leads down to the Finestrat road where we are met by car and taken to the village of Orxeta for lunch at Paco´s busy Restaurant

Thursday Day 6 - Free day
Sit out on the terrace, go walking on your own, print out your digital photos or grab a lift down to the beach or up to the Safari park. Packed lunch or cook yourself (you have free run of the kitchen in your house). Evening meal at Isa and Tony´s restaurant in the village - a real treat.

Friday Day 7 (walk about 3.5 hours)
We´ll drive up past the village to the Tagarina Valley where we´ll follow one of several tracks up to and along the Sella mountain ridge. It´s easy to moderate going but spectacular, with views down to the village, out over the mountains and across to the Mediterranean. Picnic lunch on the mountain ridge and a last big  evening meal on the CasaRoc terrace.

Saturday Day 8
L.ight lunch, last walk round the village, return to the airport.
