Sella Walks - a programme of guided walks / senderismo con guía
This page outlines a possible week´s programme. Obviously we´ll adapt the programme to the needs of the walkers, the weather and local events. All walks will be led by English / English speaking guides who know the routes well and who live locally. The idea is to enjoy the walks and to take some gentle exercise, so we avoid really steep climbs, scree slopes and loose rocks and we generally categorise the routes as "easy to moderate". We are very fond of picnics - including local produce and local wine.

Saturday, Day 1 (walk - less than an hour)
Pick up from Alicante airport, journey to Sella. Introduction to CasaRoc or La Casita de las Nubes. Walk up to the Hermita de Santa Bárbara, tour of the village and evening meal as a group in CasaRoc.

Sunday Day 2 (walk - about 2 and a half hours)
The Cólera walk around Sella, through the Huerta (orchard/garden) de Sella  ending in  a trip down to the old Mill at the valley bottom . Paella lunch at Marías Bar out on the terrace.

Monday Day 3 (walk -about 3 or 4 hours)
Walk below the Coll el Comptador  . This is a beautiful track down the valley, up past abandoned country houses, along a narrow rocky and forest track and over ancient moorish terraces and then down through a dramatic valley past the Rock climbing area and back to the start. Picnic lunch and evening meal at local restaurant.

Tuesday Day 4 (walk about 2 to 3 hours)
We´ll drive up past the village to the Tagarina Valley where we´ll follow one of several tracks up to and along the Sella mountain ridge. It´s easy going but spectacular, with views down to the village, out over the mountains and across to the Mediterranean. Big picnic on the top and evening meal on the CasaRoc terrace.

Wednesday Day 5 (walk about 3 to 4 hours)
Drive up and over the Sierra Aitana via the 1,200 metre Tudons pass Walk along an easy track for some 5 kilometres to a barbecue spot at a local spring- lunch! After a barbecue lunch, further walks along the limestone ridge to visit further springs and geological features. The adventurous can scramble up and squeeze through onto the top of the ridge, where there are startling rock formations. Tapas in the evening at Paco´s bar in the village - noisy, friendly and very Spanish.

Thursday Day 6 - Free day
Sit out on the terrace, go walking on your own, print out your digital photos or grab a lift down to the beach or up to the Safari park. Packed lunch or cook yourself (you have free run of the kitchen in your house). Evening meal at Isa and Tony´s restaurant in the village - a real treat.

Friday Day 7 (walk about 3.5 hours)
Walk from the nearby village of Finestrat, skirting around the impressive peak of the Puig Campana, over the Col de Sacarets and so back to the Village via a friend´s hilltop house for a picnic barbecue up in the clouds. Paella meal cooked in CasaRoc by Vicenta, our neighbour - another culinary treat.

Saturday Day 8
Light lunch, last walk round the village, return to the airport.
