Health: We have a daily doctor´s surgery in the Plaza mayor. Bring your E111 with you for emergency attention. 30 minutes away between Villajoiosa and Benidorm on the N332 is the local hospital with an A and E department. There´s a Chemist´s shop in Sella. Money: There are two banks, the CAM and the Caja Rural, both in the Plaza mayor. The CAM has an ATM. They both change currency. Shops: Diego´s in the Plaza stocks most things though his range is limited. The new shop in Valencia Street (see map) is similar and unlike Diego´s is open Saturday afternoons and Sunday mornings - very useful. Both bakeries do Coca de almendra - the local almond cake, as well as a range of loaves and pizza-ish snacks. Bars: In the Plaza the Bar Paco is the village´s main bar and Paco´s wife, Amparo, does , excellent if simple, tapas. (ask for Merluza, patatas bravas, carne con salsa, atún ensalada. ) Also in the Plaza and newly opened is the Bar Casino, run by Martin and Sharon, neighbours of ours. English style “pub grub” and also quite good Spanish style tapas. Down on the main Road the big three - Isa and Toni´s, Bar María and Bar Fonda, all do good food. Isa and Toni´s is the only one open for evening meals and we rate them the best Sella restaurant. Church: Sella´s church is the Iglesia de Santa Ana and Mass is usually at 12.00. On top of the hill is the chapel of Santa Barbera but the most important figure in the village is the image of the virgin of the Divina Aurora who inspires wholehearted loyalty and devotion even from the most godless of the Sellardos. Her image is kept in the church in the Plaza. Her main fiesta is at the start of October.
